This particular guitar is a 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman. What makes it unusual and coveted is the fact that this particular example was factory finished in Black! Once again, with custom colors, we can’t figure out why they didn’t make more of these…they look so cool. We are thankful, from a collector/rarity standpoint however, that they didn’t.

This is one of my personal favorites. In the late 1930’s Gretsch redesigned their acoustic arch tops to exemplify more of an Art Deco style. Most evident was the cats-eye f-holes which were advertised as the “new streamlined tone-holes.” In the mid-sixties Gretsch briefly reintroduced the cat’s-eye f hole. Here we have this beautiful example…a 1966 6117 in Blue.

This guitar is a 1967 Gretsch Songbird in a Sunburst finish. This guitar is a moderate level model but is quite unique as it was made for a chain of record/musical instrument stores on the East Coast named Sam Goody Music and the “G” f holes stand for Goody not Gretsch.
