Finally a guitar that’s older than me, and what a cool guitar it is…a circa 1939 Gretsch Model 35.This guitar is a survivor. It’s got a big fat neck that plays beautifully. Our illustrious tech, John Bertsche had to give this old girl some TLC to get her up and playing well again. She has had her neck reset and her frets replaced. She will never win a prize in a beauty contest but she sounds wonderful and plays like a dream. If you are looking for an acoustic archtop guitar and love that “real relic” look, this is the one for you. These old Gretsches were built like tanks with a carved solid spruce top, a rosewood adjustable bridge, ebony fingerboard, and a rosewood veneered headstock. This model 35 has ivoroid binding as well as perloid binding next to it around the top of the guitar, and it is in surprisingly good condition. We’ve seen a few prettier examples but we’re fairly certain they will all need a neck reset and a fret job. On this old girl, it’s already been done for you…and done beautifully I might add. This piece of history will ship in its equally old hard shell case and will be professionally packed with great care.

The Gretsch guitar company became very famous for their use of different finish colors on many of their guitars. There were colors like Cadillac Green, Jaguar Tan, and the most famous, Western Orange. Here we have a 1954 Gretsch Rancher in Western Orange. This beauty is out of the late John Entwistle’s collection, and is featured in his book, Bass Culture. John said, “…I love orange Gretsches.” So do we!

I'm "Hooked on a Feelin" ...this beauty was owned by Tony Mottola, super famous studio cat...comes with his non-original gigbag (marked with a big white TM). Works perfectly.

So imagine this…a Gretsch Country Gentleman in that beautiful orange color, which Gretsch called “western style amber red.” Now imagine it as a solid body guitar, the size and shape of a double cutaway Jet! You have a 1962 Gretsch Model 6121 Chet Atkins solid body. This is a very cool and beautiful guitar. She sounds and plays as good as she looks too.
