The Gretsch guitar company became very famous for their use of different finish colors on many of their guitars. There were colors like Cadillac Green, Jaguar Tan, and the most famous, Western Orange. Here we have a 1954 Gretsch Rancher in Western Orange. This beauty is out of the late John Entwistle’s collection, and is featured in his book, Bass Culture. John said, “…I love orange Gretsches.” So do we!

Here’s another rare find. A 1955 white guard Esquire in two-tone sunburst. This guitar has a beautifully figured ash body with a wonderfully shaped very soft ‘v’ maple neck with plenty of fret-life left. The one single coil pickup in this Esquire has all the tone that anyone could ever want or need.

What a beautiful 1955 Fender Stratocaster this is. When you open up the almost brand new tweed case, you know you are in for a treat. This guitar has a few scratches but really was hardly ever played and it was kept in in a cool and dry climate where it didn’t seem to age at all. The maple neck looks brand new. When we purchased the guitar there was a piece of sheet music in the case … “Home on the Range.” A great find.

The year is 1955. A customer approaches Leo Fender and asks “Can you paint a Strat the color of my brand new Olds that’s parked right across the street?”

The color is yellow and it’s a very cool color. In 1955 Fender very, very rarely finished their Stratocasters in any other color but two-tone sunburst, but…

Seeing the guitar at first, almost anyone would say that this was a very rare and very yellowed 1955 Stratocaster that had been custom ordered in white. That is not the case. This guitar was ordered in yellow and it is yellow through and through, which almost certainly makes it a one-of-a-kind!
